Close to My Heart January – April 2022 Card Kit

Every four months I receive an adorable, simple to complete card kit from Close to My Heart. Each kit contains a full size stamp set, black ink cube, stamp block, card bases, cut apart pieces, and envelopes.

Each box is $49.95 with $7.95 shipping if purchased individually. If you sign up for a one year subscription, which is my favorite, you will be billed $131.85 yearly, which is a 20% discount and shipping is free. You can find all of the information, including FAQ here.

The current kit makes 22 cards, 2 each of 11 adorable designs. Once completed you will have thank you, birthday, just a note, sympathy and a few love cards to keep on hand for just the right occasion.

I love card kits, and this is a great one for quick and easy card making. The Cut Above kits can be done with children who love to craft, with just a little guidance.

The only supplies I used that weren’t included in the kit were Bearly Art Glue, and small detail scissors.

Monthly Club EP Subscriptions

Echo Park Paper Company is one of my favorite sources for beautiful paper kits. I love their warehouse sales for sourcing inexpensive, good quality printed paper.

December’s kit, a smaller card kit, was called Day in the Life. The kit contained a 6 x 6, 24 double-sided sheet paper pack, a coordinating stamp set, and matching ephemera pack. January’s kit contains a 12 x 12 printed paper pack, 6 x 6 paper pad, a stamp set, chipboard pieces, stickers, brads, tags, and ephemera pieces. The theme for January is “Gather”, and has beautiful, muted neutrals, blues and greens.

I have subscribed to the company’s Club EP monthly subscription kits. The kits rotate between the smaller card making kits, and large scrapbook/memory keeping kits. If you subscribe to Club EP you will be between the 1st and 10th of each month, depending on the payment method you selected. Kits begin shipping on the 20th of each month. The card kits are currently $19.99 US, and the larger, scrapbook type kits are $29.99.

What I Made with a Day in the Life

As you can see I was able to use up most of the kit with very few scraps left over. I love using the majority of a kit and feeling like I really received my money’s worth.

This set of die cuts turned out to be a lot of fun to work with once I learned a few tips and tricks.  It is a very versatile set to help you make cards that look like you spent a lot of time on them.

 

Helpful Tips

My first attempt to use the Designer Frames Die set was not successful. The frame is very thin and I had a hard time keeping everything straight as I adhered it to the card. 

I did a little searching, asked a few questions, and soon it all came together for me.  Below is a video tutorial with the tips that really helped me.

Creativity in a Box

The Bloom Box is a card making subscription box that is delivered directly to your mail box. Each box contains a full size stamp set (etched red rubber stamps), an instruction booklet, supplies and envelopes to make four unique cards. 

Each month when my box arrives it boosts my creativity just seeing the designs. It also feels like a gift to me, since I love making cards for the special people in my life.

This month’s Bloom Box theme is Color Me Happy, and the designs certainly live up to that name. The designs this month would appeal to most of the people in my life, and probably yours.

A Mini Class Delivered to You

Bloom Box is an awesome card kit that is available each month from Fun Stampers Journey. This month the kit is called Fun Cards, and they certainly are fun.

Each monthly kit contains a full sized stamp set, an instruction booklet, and supplies to make four unique cards. 

The only thing you need to provide is your own adhesive, ink, and basic tools. Subscribers are sent an email with the recommended supplies approximately ten days before the kits ship. If you don’t have all of the supplies, you can always substitute with the supplies you do have.

Two Ways to Get Your own Bloom Box

The first, and best, way to get your Bloom Box is to subscribe. Subscriptions are $24.95 (plus tax and shipping) a month, and there is a six month commitment. Your card is charged around the 1st of each month, and your box will ship around the 6th. 

Beginning July 2017, the Bloom Boxes will be available as a stand alone, one month purchase. The price for a single box is $29.95 ( plus tax and shipping), and is available while supplies last. If you find there is a box you really like, try to order as early in the month as possible, before the box sells out.

Fun Stampers Journey will also begin offering the stamp sets separately beginning July 2017. Again, these will be available while supplies last, with the subscribers getting first priority.

I have really enjoyed my Bloom Box subscription! It has been a lot of fun learning something new each month, and making cards that I otherwise would never have tried. I tend to be a pink, frilly crafter, and the boxes encourage me to get outside my comfort zone, and try new things.
