Planners for Preteens

The geniuses behind the Happy Planner have really listened to their customers. They have consistently added products that better fit the needs of the planner community.

Their newest releases are geared to preteens. I was so excited to see several that were not glittery, florals, unicorns, etc. I love those types of planners, but my grandson would not appreciate receiving one.

It’s All About the Emojis

I previously purchased the Squad Goals planner for my granddaughter, and she loves it. However, as soon as she saw the Emoji planner she was a little jealous. When I saw this planner at Michaels, I knew my grandson would love it, and he did!

I really like all of the monthly activities in this planner. The extras, such as washi, stickers, and eraser were a big hit. His sister really wanted to “borrow” the emoji washi tape.

More Fun Choices

There are four planners, and two sticker books, in this new collection. All of the planners come in a boxed kit with cute extras. In addition to the Emoji planner, there are Girl in Wonderland,

and Cool Dude.

Something for Everyone

If you have a child in your life who would love a planner I think this collection would be a hit. The activities, encouragement, and overall fun vibe should be a big hit with the preteen crowd.

Card Making For Beginners Part 2

Making Your First Cards

I have to tell you that it was hard for me to adjust to using just a pencil and ruler to make my card base, top layer, etc. It can be done though. The first card is simple and just uses a few easy techniques.

I chose the Birthday Melody stamp set to make these cards because it looks very nice in black and white, and has some nice sentiments as well.

I put together the basic card, and then added a few things for cards two and three.

Anyone Can Make These Simple Cards

Now that you have seen how these cards came together, I hope you will give card making a try. Your loved ones will love receiving a handmade card from you.

As you get more comfortable making cards, you will come up with your own designs, color preferences, etc.

You may decide you want to learn some fancy folds, heat embossing, and die cutting.

Diagonal Pop-Up Cards

Diagonal Pop-up Cards definitely have a wow factor. Once you put together one of these fun cards, you will see just how easy it is to do. They are a little time consuming, but well worth the effort. Anyone you give this card to will feel special, and absolutely wowed!

Supplies Needed

Gather all of your supplies, and we will get started.

2 different colors of solid cardstock, cut to 11″ x 3 5/8″ each

1 piece of solid cardstock (use one of the colors already selected), cut into a 3 5/8″ square

1 piece of white cardstock, cut into a 3 1/2″ square

2 pieces of printed paper (coordinate to solid colors) cut into 3 5/8″ squares

1 piece of a different patterned paper (coordinating) cut into a 3 5/8″ square

2 pieces of printed paper (pick one of the prints already used, or something coordinating) cut into 2 5/8″ x 5 1/4″ rectangles

Paper trimmer/scorer

Adhesive of your choice

Ink color(s) of your choice

Stamp set of your choice

Stamp block
