New Stamps, Paper, and Dies!

I love receiving new goodies to create with! If I’m in a slump, new products are sure to get me creating again. The first thing I made with some of my new products was this doesn’t-look-easy-but-it-was card, which could really be for anyone. I made it for my son-in-law who is in the army, because his birthday was coming up, and I thought of him when I saw this stamp.

A New Catalog Means Lots of New Stuff

I did a flip through of the new catalog on my YouTube channel. I’m posting it below, in case you want to see all of the new goodies.

So much fun, and so much inspiration. I had to really set a budget because I wanted almost everything!

Here is a video showing the goodies I did order. This probably won’t be my only order from this fun catalog, but these were my favorites.

The First Project

The Compass Rose stamp was my second favorite stamp set in the Spring into Summer Catalog. The first was a gorgeous butterfly set, called Small Things, with matching dies.

A Birthday Card for my Husband

Music is Life

When I saw the Life Music stamp set I immediately knew this needed to be used on a card for my husband. When he isn’t playing his guitar, he is listening to others play. The message “music is life” is so appropriate for him.

This card was simple to put together with just a few layers, and a few easy techniques. While none of the techniques I used are new, or complicated, I love the results.

Cutting Instructions

I cut the black licorice cardstock at 11″ x 4 1/4″, scored the paper at 5 1/2″, then folded into my card base. This made a vertical orientation card that is the standard 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″.

You will need two pieces of Blue Lagoon cardstock cut to 5 3/8″ x 4 1/8″, and two pieces of Whip Cream cardstock cut to 5 1/4″ x 4″. In other words, each layer is just 1/8″ smaller than the previous layer.

Keeping a Stash of Cards on Hand

I like to keep a collection of cards on hand for most occasions. A few family members have even begun to rely on me to have a card ready when they have forgotten to purchase one. It’s nice to not have a feeling of panic when you realize you need a birthday card, and do not have time to run out and get one, or design one for the occasion. As card makers it can be embarrassing to hand over a card from the dollar tree.

My collection was sadly missing sympathy cards, so I decided to make a few. I hope I won’t have the occasion to use one in the near future, however. I flipped through my stamps, glanced through the Fun Stampers Journey catalog for inspiration, and gathered a few supplies.

Multi-layered Stamps

Before becoming a Fun Stampers Journey Coach I really hadn’t tried multi-layered stamps. Since joining I have purchased two sets, and love them both.

The stamp set I used today is called Spring Bouquet (I will have a link to the set below), and I decided to stamp it in different shades of blue.

I purposely did not add a lot of bling, or shine, to this card. I wanted it to be very monochromatic, and fairly simple.

Fun Cards Bloom Box

A Mini Class Delivered to You

Bloom Box is an awesome card kit that is available each month from Fun Stampers Journey. This month the kit is called Fun Cards, and they certainly are fun.

Each monthly kit contains a full sized stamp set, an instruction booklet, and supplies to make four unique cards.

The only thing you need to provide is your own adhesive, ink, and basic tools. Subscribers are sent an email with the recommended supplies approximately ten days before the kits ship. If you don’t have all of the supplies, you can always substitute with the supplies you do have.

Two Ways to Get Your own Bloom Box

The first, and best, way to get your Bloom Box is to subscribe. Subscriptions are $24.95 (plus tax and shipping) a month, and there is a six month commitment. Your card is charged around the 1st of each month, and your box will ship around the 6th.

Beginning July 2017, the Bloom Boxes will be available as a stand alone, one month purchase. The price for a single box is $29.95 ( plus tax and shipping), and is available while supplies last. If you find there is a box you really like, try to order as early in the month as possible, before the box sells out.

Fun Stampers Journey will also begin offering the stamp sets separately beginning July 2017. Again, these will be available while supplies last, with the subscribers getting first priority.

Simple Father’s Day Cards

One Design, Three Cards

Father’s Day is just around the corner, so I decided to spend the day making a few cards. On a recent trip to Tuesday Morning I stumbled across a beautiful paper pack by Echo Park. The paper collection is called Reflections by Lori Whitlock, and really made me think of masculine cards.

Once you find a gorgeous paper collection, designing cards is simple. I pulled a stamp set, solid colored papers, ink, color silks, tags, adhesive, and basic tools together. You can see how I made these cards in the video below.
